Michelle Lonsway, EA

After ten years as a seasonal tax preparer for a national company, Michelle opened Lonsway Tax in 2018. She set up a remote office to accommodate clients in various states. This made navigating the COVID quarantine world quite easy. Continuing to utilize the virtual environment enables her to serve clients in different states and countries around the world.

Lonsway Tax currently offers in-person appointments for local clients in Brevard County, Florida, as well as virtual appointments for clients out of the area. In addition to tax work, Michelle serves on the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) Leadership Development Committee, Nominating Committee, and Affiliate/Chapter Transition Team. Previous roles include NAEA Director (2021-2024), Executive Vice President of the Florida Society of Enrolled Agents (2021-2023) and President of the Space Coast Chapter of Enrolled Agents (2019-2021).

What is an Enrolled Agent?

Enrolled agents (Circular 230 practitioners) are federally authorized tax practitioners empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for tax issues including audits, collections, and appeals. The EA credential is the highest awarded by the IRS and is earned by passing a three-part Special Enrollment Exam or through previous and specific experience while employed by the IRS.
